The National Academy of Science and Technology, Philippines (NAST PHL), in partnership with Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Regional Office I will conduct the ScienTeach: A Virtual Symposium for the Youth on October 18, 2021 at 9:00 AM via Zoom with a live broadcast on the NAST PHL social media accounts. This event is open for all junior and senior high school students.

The symposium will be moderated by Dr. Pierangeli G. Vital, a 2021 Outstanding Young Scientist awardee. Three distinguished speakers are invited to share their knowledge and experiences in their field of expertise. They are Academician Glenn B. Gregorio, member of the Academy and Director and CEO of Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA); Dr. Pia D. Bagasmad, 2019 Outstanding Young Scientist awardee and Associate Professor at the University of the Philipines Diliman; and Dr. Rico C. Ancog, 2019 Outstanding Young Scientist awardee, Associate Professor and Dean of School of Environmental Science and Management, University of the Philippines Los Baños.

The virtual Symposium for the Youth started in the year 2020 in partnership with the DOST Regional Offices. It is an adaptive effort of the NAST PHL to continue to convey information and encourage the young minds in the pursuit of a science career path. ScienTeach is a collection of episodes that highlights varying topics featuring National Scientists, NAST Members and its awardees who are accomplished in their respective fields. It utilizes online platforms while obtaining the objectives of the traditional lecture series, which are to: (1) promote science and technology, (2) bring our scientists closer to the youth, and (3) inspire and encourage the students to pursue a career in science (Joana Rafa Camata/NAST PHL).
