REGION VIII –The NAST PHL the National Academy of Science and Technology, Philippines (NAST PHL), collaborates with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Regional Office VIII and the Department of Education Region VIII, to conduct ScienTeach: A Virtual Symposium for the Youth on November 26, 2021 at 09:00 AM with a live broadcast on the NAST PHL and DOST REGION 8 social media accounts.

The invited resource speakers for the event are National Scientist Angel C. Alcala, an ecologist and a Professor Emeritus at the Siliman University Dumaguete; Academician Marie Antonette Juinio-Meñez, a marine conservationist and invertebrate specialist from the Marine Science Institute of the University of the Philippines Diliman; and Academician Arvin C. Diesmos, a zoologist from ASEAN Center for Biodiversity. The moderator and master of ceremonies of the event will be Dr. Rey Donne S. Papa, an Outstanding Young Scientist awardee in 2021.

The virtual Symposium for the Youth started in 2020 as a new normal adaptation of the NAST PHL to continue to convey scientific information. ScienTeach aims to encourage the young generations in the pursuit of a science career path featuring NAST Members’ accomplishments in their respective fields. Moreover, it aims to promote science and technology, bring our scientists closer to the youth, and inspire and encourage the students to pursue a career in science.

This symposium is open for all junior and senior high school students.
