Webinar on Teaching Laboratory Courses during the Pandemic

This webinar will feature the sharing of practices and experiences in the teaching of laboratory courses/experiments in different science courses during this time of the pandemic. Resource persons from the Philippine Science High School, Ateneo de Manila University, University of the Philippines Diliman, and University of Santo Tomas will cover teaching laboratory courses in Senior High School and the Tertiary level, particularly on Chemistry, Physics, and Biology. Webinar on Long-Term COVID

For this webinar, an overview of what is currently known about Long-Term COVID or Long COVID, a post-viral illness that may afflict COVID survivors, will be presented by Dr. Anna Kristina P. Serquina of the National Cancer Institute, US National Institutes of Health. The multi-systemic signs and symptoms and possible predisposing factors will also be discussed. Dr. Sequina will also give a brief discussion of ongoing efforts to study this emerging global public health problem, mitigation strategies, and possible hypotheses on its etiology. Science Policy and Information Forum on Understanding Risk Factors for Cardiovascular Disease

Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) remain the leading cause of morbidity and mortality in the country. With experts invited from various medical specialty societies and the Department of Health, this virtual forum aims to present updated information on Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) epidemiology, modifiable risk factors, simple prevention strategies, and current population-level interventions; review the role of salt on hypertension, fats on heart disease, and excessive caloric intake on diabetes; and provide recommendations to address policy gaps on CVD prevention and improve the implementation of current interventions. Invited discussants from the National Nutrition Council and DOST Food and Nutrition Research Institute (FNRI) will also share their insights on policy and research perspectives of the topics to be discussed in the virtual forum. Its series of information fora and webinars have encouraged public participation in open discussions of important and pressing issues in science and technology on a wide range of topics. Registration to the online events is free and open to the public. Participants will receive an e-certificate upon completion of each webinar and submission of an accomplished evaluation form.
